While older roofs or roofs with multiple leaks or widespread issues should be replaced, this all depends on each individual roof.

A: While some small jobs can be tackled by DIY homeowners, major work or a roof replacement is a pretty complex process that requires training and thus should be left to the professionals. Professional roofing contractors through training and certification by the manufacturer of the materials in order to obtain extended manufacturer warranty. The manufacturer won’t offer (or void) the warranty if the roof is repaired by a person and he is not trained by the manufacturer. Just keep that in mind when repairing a newer roof or any roof that has a workmanship warranty still valid or the materials themselves. For example: Our company JD’s Roofing and Repair will only honor our workmanship warranty on new roof installation and if we are notified of all issues at hand as stated in our workmanship warranty. If anyone other than JD’s Roofing and Repair attempts to repair anything on the new installation roof it will VOID the warranty. We will honor all workmanship on our labor with a 2-year workmanship warranty. Again this is ONLY on new roof installations done by JD’s Roofing and Repair, LLC. All material warranties are handled through the manufacturer.
